Our branch covers a wide area and I'm sure many changes to our pubs still remain unreported. Maintaining branch pub records is relying on just a few people reporting news of changes to keep our branch online news and pub records up to date.

More reports and pub surveys are needed!!

If you are reading this and know of a change of beer range, opening times, management, closure etc. please report it to the Branch. This information will give the branch a better perspective of what's happening to our pubs and the availability of real ale that can also be made available to a wider audience via the web site, and also in the regular Capital Pub Check section of the London Drinker Magazine.

Alternatively please send your feedback/comments directly to the CAMRA Branch via email: whatpub@rh.camra.org.uk

17th May

Work is in progress at the Adelaide at 57 Park Road, Teddington, for a full exterior refresh. More improvements coming soon and the pub's new manager, Rosie, have also been announced.

13th May

The Royal Oak at 13 Richmond Road, Twickenham, following a complete refurbishment, will reopen as a high-end neighbourhood restaurant and cocktail bar similar to The Gosling in Woking [thegosling.co.uk/] The pub closed in April 2026.

9th May

The Railway Bell, Hampton.
Robert Lee (Save The Dip Campaign) has been advised by Stonegate (the Freeholder) that Contracts have been exchanged for the sale of the pub. Stonegate have not disclosed to whom. On completion, the buyer is granting a new lease for pub use. There are plans to undertake refurbishment with the aim of reopening the pub soon, however, no reopening date has been stated.

Although an ACV is in place, suspicions have been raised that although Save The Dip Campaign should have first refusal their solicitor posits that the sale is exempt because the pub is being sold as a going concern. Robert Lee has stated the campaign group has decided not to contest the solicitor's view as raising funds to put in a bid would take time and letting the sale take its course will hopefully lead to a more speedy reopening of the pub.

5th May

The London Apprentice at 62 Church Street, Isleworth, TW7 6BG will be closed for a major refurbishment from 4th May for about 5 weeks.

The Mute Swan (opposite HCP) are having a Championship Ale & Craft Beer Festival - Friday 15th May from 6pm until late Sunday 17th May.

Across the weekend they will be serving over 40 beers and ciders from two bars, inside the pub and in their side bar. There will also be live music on Saturday and Sunday.

3rd April

The Royal Oak, 13 Richmond Road, Twickenham has been closed and boarded up. It had been recently up for sale. It is assumed that the expected trade after an expensive refurbishment in 2024 has not been realised. Christian Arden and Ben Abrahams took control of The Royal Oak in October 2024. They also oversee other pubs in southwest London: The Crossing in Barnes, White Horse in Richmond, and New Inn in Ham Common.

The Red Lion in Isleworth has a new manager after the previous tenant disappeared suddenly leaving the pub in trouble. We are monitoring developments here and there is a possibility of this being another branch pub that applies for an ACV. It previously had one that expired in 2020.

Urban Pubs & Bars (a London pub operator) has added five pubs to its growing estate, including the acquisition of four former Food & Fuel sites from The Restaurant Group-owned Brunning & Price.
