06 Jun 05 | The Royal Oak, High St, Teddington has now been demolished and the site cleared. Barratt Homes has started building seven one and two-bedroom apartments and five 2, 3, & 4 bed houses on the site. A pub/bar will also be included on this former site of The Royal Oak. This is said to give the High Street in Teddington "a totally new look" by the autumn 2005. History - There has been a pub on this site for over 300 years. In in 1935 it was demolished and rebuilt approximately 20 metres back from the road because there were plans for a road bridge across the Thames at Teddington. This did not come about, and the pubs relocation had been unnecessary. |
