The Cross Lances (Fuller's), 236 Hanworth Rd, Hounslow has re-opened with a new tenant about two weeks ago. Beers currently offered are London Pride, Gales Seafarers Ale and ESB

The Greyhound, 82, Kew Green has been closed and boarded up since late 2009. It's future is now uncertain.

The Railway, 91 High St, Hampton Wick, is displying a 'for sale' board and it is only a matter of time before this pub is lost, unless trade improves and a new tenant found.

The 'world's strongest' beer named "Tactical Nuclear Penguin" at 32% ABV has been launched by BrewDog brewers of Fraserburgh.

The Clubhouse at 65 Richmond Rd, Twickenham is now under new management and has been renamed the Mulberry (its former name was the Mulberry Tree and ex Mogolian Barbeque). Real ale is being served.

The Airman, Uxbridge Rd, Feltham is 'under new management', according to a banner hanging outside.

The Lord Palmeston, 112 Staines Rd, Hounslow could be closed for good over claims it is frequented by drug dealers. The pub closed mid-September when a routine inspection found a series of potential fire hazards, including a faulty smoke alarm system and signs of an unreported blaze. Councillors will decide on December 1st whether Osprey Pubs should be stripped of their licence. Read more in the Hounslow Chronical.

The Fox, 39 Church St, Twickenham has reopened after a partial refurbishment. This old pub is still selling Twickenham beers.

The old Larkin Inn in Hounslow High Street, which has been closed for some time has been repainted magnolia and had "The Manor" fascia removed and replaced with a new sign. The pub/bar has now reopened as "The Rose".

The Jenny Lind, 80 High St. Hampton Hill. This Enterprise Inns pub is now closed and the freehold has been sold. It is likely to become yet another foodie place.

The Red Lion, 166 Heath Road, Twickenham is under new management.

The Magpie and Crown, Brentford, is to reopen on Friday 13th.

The sudden closure of the pub became a news story in the Hounslow Chronicle recently.

The Anglers, 3 Broom Rd, Teddington has closed for a major refurbishment and is to reopen on the 5th Dec 2009.

The Teddington Arms, 38/40 High St, Teddington reopened on the 6th Nov under a new manager after an extensive refurbishment. Four beers on handpump TFA Autumn Blase, Surrey Hill's Shere Drop, and Sharp's Doombar and Red Ale. At the back of the bar there's two mock casks despensing gas propelled Hogsback HBB and TFA Gandstand bitter.

The New England Restaurant & Bar, (ex Duke of York) York Rd/Great West Rd, Brentford has been closed since April 2006.

The Fox, 39 Church St, Twickenham which is currently closed after Tom McAuley left, now has a new Landlord who also runs the Clock House in Teddington. He is refurbishing the place and hopes to open up soon with a good range of real ales.

The Wishing Well, at 66 Staines Rd, Hounslow is under new management.

Two more pubs close in Hounslow:
The Lord Palmerston (ex The Pickeld Newt) on the corner of Staines Road/Hibernia Road is now closed with a For Sale board showing "Price Reduced" - it is up for sale at £500K freehold.

Outside view of The Magpie and CrownThere is shock news this week that the Magpie and Crown, Brentford, has closed as a result of what was deemed an excessive rent increase by the owner.

This pub features in the November London LocAle Passport promotion and therefore it maybe unavailable to visit until the tenancy is resolved.

The pub is owned by the Wellington Pub Co and negotiations over the business are still ongoing and as such we hope the future of this real ale mecca will be resolved soon.

The Teddington Arms is currently closed for a major refurbishment. The notice on the window suggests that it will reopen early November.

We are pleased to announce that our Branch Chairman Brian Kirton - who stood down at the AGM on medical grounds - has had a successful hip operation and should be back home to convalesce on Wednesday 14th Oct. His recovery will be over the next 3 months. We wish him well for a speedy recovery.

The Crown & Sceptre in Staines Road, Feltham - which closed on the 20th May - has been sold by Punch Taverns and is to become a doctor's surgery. The pub's kitchens have been stripped and the inside readied for a complete overhaul in time for a surgery to open some time next year.

The decision to sell the pub resulted when the Police revoked the pub's license in September following a catalogue of violent incidents there.

What was the The Oak, at 172 High Street, Teddington, has re-open as Sammy's this weekend.

An 'Ale & Pie' Festival is to take place at the Prince Blücher, 124 The Green, Twickenham, from the 8th to 15th November. Cask beers to include Fullers 1845 and some from Twickenham Fine Ales.

After a successful Beer and Cider festival earlier in the month The Lion, Wick Rd, Teddington has now taken cider more seriously and is offering
Addlestone's Premium Cloudy Cider (5.8%) on hand pump.

The Teddington Arms, 38/40 High St, Teddington is to close for a refurbishment at the end of September for 4-5 weeks. There will be a new manager when they re-open.

The Railway Tavern, 91 High St, Hampton Wick reopened on Friday 23rd Aug under new (interim?) management. Real Ale will continue to be supported with London Pride (requested by a local) being the first available from 3rd Sept. The new manager still needs to reinstate the kitchen as the previous owner removed all the units when they left.

The Rising Sun (Youngs) 277 Richmond Rd, Twickenham has formally reopened on Aug 28th under its new name The Marble Hill. The new licensee is keen for it to be a good community pub with strong links to Marble Hill House.

The Old Anchor (Youngs), 71 Richmond Rd, Twickenham is currently only open in the evenings.

The Rising Sun, 29 High Street, Hampton Hill. Under new management from 22nd May now has a new web site - www.risingsun-hamptonhill.com

The Crown & Sceptre in Staines Road, Feltham - which closed on the 20th May is now displaying a SOLD sign.

Jenny Lind, 80 High St. Hampton Hill, is open and has a new manager. Although the place looks pretty bleak they did have Taylors Landlord available. The large sign outside indicates 'Freehold Premises For Sale' is still on display.

Passion n Spice (ex Papa J’s, Waiting Rooms, Chequers Inn), 181 Twickenham Rd. Isleworth has been renamed Cinnamon Lounge.

Rose and Crown, 333 London Road, Isleworth is closed and has a 'freehold for sale' sign up. There is also a builder's hoarding around seating area at the front of it.

Hare and Hounds (Young’s), 216 Upper Richmond Road West, East Sheen is now open after refurbishment. The public bar has been replaced by the "Bellini Lounge". See their new web site: www.theharesheen.com

The Planning Application Number: 09/0918/FUL for the redevelopment of The Shakespeare, Lower Richmond Road, Richmond has been withdrawn by Young & Co on the 27th July.

Punch Taverns has announced its intention to reopen The Crown and Sceptre in Staines Road, Feltham - which closed on the 20th May - after Police told the owners they were applying to have their licence revoked, citing a series of violent incidents in the pub.

Innventive Operations have taken over L'Auberge at the Castelnau, 201 Lonsdale Road, Barnes, from the Massive pubCo. When the pub is to reopen in not known.

The Queen Dowager, 49 North Lane, Teddington. According to 09/0792/FUL planning permission has been approved for Young’s to make improvements to the building. Changes are: New boundary wall to front beer garden, new doors to front elevation, retractable blinds to front elevation, new door to rear into landscape garden, removal of existing retractable blind to side elevation and erection of new timber pergola.

The Rising Sun, 29 High Street, Hampton Hill. Under new management from 22nd May, the pub has since been transformed with a series of phased improvements. Traditional, home-cooked food and Sunday roast introduced from the 21st June.

The Airman, at 1 Hanworth Road, Feltham has finally replaced its dilapidated 'The Airman' signs.

The Mansion (ex Rose & Crown), High St. Feltham has had the boards removed from the windows and appears to have re-opened.

The Old Anchor, 71 Richmond Rd, Twickenham is currently only open in the evenings.

The Oak, at 172 High Street Teddington, is closed but will re-open as Sammy's in September 2009.

Joe's Bar & Restaurant, 99 High St, Hampton Hill has new signage. It is now 'La Familia Restaurant' No real ale.

The Swan, at 22 High St, Hampton Wick (a Shepherd Neame pub) which is currently closed is to reopen at noon on Monday 29th June under new ownership of Simon and Marta Skinner.

Outside view of The ShakespeareYoung & Co have submitted a planning application (09/0918/FUL) that will close The Shakespeare pub at 1 Shakespeare Terrace, Lower Richmond Rd TW9 4PL. The proposal is to redevelop the site to provide 9 one and two bed flats and associated works, through conversion of the existing building.

Green King has bought 11 pubs from Punch Taverns which include the St Margarets Tavern at 107 St Margarets Rd, Twickenham.

The controlling company that recently took over The White Swan at Twickenham Riverside from the Massive Group are in the hands of the administrators. A new company is rumoured to be interested in taking over the pub which is still trading.

Ailsa Tavern, 263 St Margarets Rd, has been acquired by Shepherd Neame as a leased house from Punch in May this year.

The Mansion (ex Rose & Crown), High St. Feltham has been reported to be now closed and boarded up.

The Jenny Lind, 80 High St. Hampton Hill. This Enterprise Inns pub is currently closed and the freehold up for sale. We have learned that there is a covenant on the deal that it will not be able to sell draught beer (or lager) - i.e. it can't be a pub (protecting their other interests in the area including the Duke of Clarence and Star).

The Crown & Sceptre, 21 Staines Rd. Feltham. This pub closed on the 22nd May and is now boarded-up.

The George & Dragon, 29 London Rd. Brentford has been redecorated inside and out and is now open. No real ale.

The Three Kings, 52 Heath Rd, Twickenham is closed again.

 Rachel and Danny will be leaving The Railway opposite Hampton Wick Station after running the pub for 5 years. The pub will be closing tonight.

The Jenny Lind, 80 High St. Hampton Hill. This Enterprise Inns pub is currently closed. Tammy Quinn & Anthony put the pub up for sale on the 26th Jan this year. The pub's future is now uncertain.

The Legless Frog, Upper Ham Rd, Ham has closed and is re-opening under its original name the Hand and Flower on 20th May according to a Beer in the Evening posting.

The Popes Grotto, Cross Deep, Twickenham. This Young's & Co Pub/Hotel was to be controversially renamed the 'Alexander' after refurbishment and a new front glass extension had been completed. However, after the Strawberry Hill Residents' Association [www.shra.org.uk] launched a petition to try and convince Young's & Co to retain the original 150 year old historic name, a compromise was reached and the establishment will now be called The Alexander Pope.

Lord Clyde, 77 Inwood Rd, Hounslow is under new management. Fuller's London Pride and a guest beer currently from Twickenham Fine Ales.

The Shire Horse, 82 Whitton Rd, Hounslow, TW3 2DD is still closed.

White Bear, 198 Kingsley Rd, TW3 4AR. This Fuller’s pub has been refurbished and de-branded.

The Jalandhar Junction at 58 Hibernia Road, Hounslow has reopened under its previous name The Royal Albion early April after being closed for a very long time. No real ale.

2nd May 09

The Twickenham Tup, 13 Richmond Rd, Twickenham which has recently reopened under new management is now owned by London Town Pubs.

The Red Lion ex Filthy’s, 166 Heath Rd, Twickenham is currently being redecorated inside and out and looks set to re-open soon. If it will continue to host live music is not known.

The King's Arms, 40 Albion Rd, Twickenham are holding a Twickenham Fine Ales Beer Festival 23rd to 25th of May over the Whitson Bank holiday weekend. All current TFA beers will be rotated on the pub’s five hand pumps.

News update: The Britannia, 5 Brewers Lane, Richmond is reported to be under new management and re-opened 29th April.

Tammy & Anthony who are the current tenants of the Jenny Lind, 80 High St, Hampton Hill, have said that Enterprise Inns are planning on closing the pub and turning it into housing after they leave if no other tenant can be found. The pubs is currently up for sale on the Enterprise Inns web site.

The Twickenham Tup, 13 Richmond Rd, Twickenham, one of Innventive Leisure pubs that have been reclaimed by the Massive administrator closed on the 15th April because of poor trading figures, but has been saved for now by a new owner and will reopen next week.

The Britannia, 5 Brewers Lane, Richmond is not so lucky and looks to be the latest victim of the recession after going into administration for the second time in less than a year. The building is said to be in need of major maintenance work and new kitchen facilities if it is ever to reopen again.

At the AGM held on the 16th April, Brian Kirton (chairman), Nick Mulhall (Secretary), and Helma Krueger (Young Members Contact) did not seek re election to the committee. Andy Pirson in addition to branch treasurer has agreed to be acting Branch Chairman and Contact until a new Chairman can be elected.

The Britannia, 5 Brewers Lane, Richmond was closed on the 17th April.

The newly refurbished Railway, 91 High St, Hampton Wick, (opposite Hampton Wick Station) will soon be open at 7am for food, tea and coffee, either eat in or to take away.

The Hare & Hounds (Grade II listed) pub at 216 Upper Richmond Rd West, East Sheen is still closed. It's been reported in the Richmond & Twickenham Times that the Hare Users Group (Hug) - a collective of unhappy former drinkers - is demanding to know when their favourite pub will reopen. Because Young's demolished the old kitchen before they had planning permission for the new one they have refuse to reopen because there is no kitchen and it looks as though the council have had all work stopped. Young's are working with Richmond council to resolve the current issues and hope to reopen in a few weeks.

The previous licensee of the Kings Arms, Teddington (now refurbished and under new management as The Clock House) pleaded guilty to a series of serious fire safety regulation breaches. This followed an inspection in 2005 and 2008 which found rooms above the pub being rented out. Jackie Lawson was fined over £7,000 at Richmond Magistrates’ Court.

The Rising Sun, 29 High Street, Hampton Hill, This Green King pub is not closing as the rumours suggested but now has a new tenant, who also runs the Coach & Horses, Whitefryiars St, EC4. IPA only available at present.

The Bell Inn, 8 Thames Street, Hampton has been taken over by Mclean Inns (www.mclean-inns.com) early Feb and is now under new management. Black Sheep Bitter, St Austell's Tribute, and Hobgoblin beers available.

Windsor Castle, 152 Bath Rd, Hounslow. This (gay) pub is currently displaying a banner 'now under new management'

The White Bear, 198 Kingsley Rd, Hounslow is undergoing a major refurbishment inside and out, and all reference to Fullers has gone including the pub sign.

The old Larkin Cellar Bar, at 113 High Street, Hounslow, that closed in October 2007 is to reopen as a new pub/bar called The Manor. No handpump visible on the bar.

The Black Horse, 203 Lampton Rd. Hounslow is selling 'real ale' again - it's Courage Best.

The Sun, 148 Hanworth Rd. Hounslow, the only 'real ale' is now Fullers London Pride.

The Milford Arms, 574 London Rd, Isleworth is no longer selling 'real ale' and handpump removed.

The Bridge Inn, 457 London Rd, Isleworth is still offering three 'real ales' - Fullers London Pride plus two guests beers.

The Red Lion aka Filthy's, 166 Heath Rd, Twickenham has closed. The Red Lion became Filthy's three years ago and was a popular music venue. Its future is uncertain.

Fuller's recently aquired Anglers pub at 3 Broom Rd, Teddington is due for refurbishment in October. This pub is now offering a guest beer - currently Harvey's Sussex bitter.

The Shire Horse, 82 Whitton Rd, Hounslow. The Hounslow & Brentford Times reports that the pub's licence has come under scrutiny after complaints from residents about unruly behaviour at closing time and fights at the pub. Hounslow Council's licensing committee has subsequently decided that the Shire Horse - owned by Enterprise Inns - should not lose its licence, but it must bring in a new Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) in order for it to continue trading.

Hare & Hounds, Upper Richmond Road West, East Sheen is closed with what Young's describe as "an exciting new makeover". This will hopefully retain one of the last 1930s style public bars in this part of London but will bring the kitchen downstairs and will give a lighter gastro-pub ambience.

The Royal Oak, 38 New Road, Brentford, which is close to Brentford FC is up for new letting, and has a 'Free of Tie' Lease - details from fleurets.com

Young's Hare and Hounds, 216 Upper Richmond Road West, East Sheen, is currently closed for refurbishment.

The Masons Arms, 41 Walpole Road, Teddington, that closed on the 19th January has reopened under new management on the 20th Feb.

On the 26th Jan Tammy & Anthony put the Jenny Lind up for sale.

The Brown Dog in Barnes (ex-Rose of Denmark, ex-Rose") has taken a positive interest in real ale again. There are currently two handpumps doing guest beers (Westerham Grasshopper, Sambrooks Wandle on now) and TFA will be getting beer in on a guest basis also.

 The Masons Arms, 41 Walpole Road, Teddington, closed on the 19th January. Enterprise Inns (pubco) are seeking a new licensee to take on the pub.

The Queen Dowager, 49 North Lane. Teddington has a new licensee. The pub (Young & Co house) is currently closed for some refurbishment which includes the removal of the seeting booths. The notice on the door indicates that the pub will reopen Feb 11th at 6pm.

Green Man, Green Man Lane, Hatton Cross, Middlesex, TW14 0PZ. We have received a report that the pub will be re-opening on Tues 27th Jan.

Anglers Hotel, 3 Broom Road. Teddington, TW11 9NR.
We have been reliably informed that this pub has been sold to Fuller's.

Update: See Times Online story. "The 164-year-old company, is expected to announce today (16th) the acquisition of the Red Lion in St James, the Anglers in Teddington and the 300-year-old Anglers in Highgate Village. Completion will take place early next month and all three pubs will be operated as Fuller’s managed houses.

6th Jan 09 The Anheuser-Busch's (A-B) Stag Brewery, Lower Richmond Road, Mortlake, SW14 (ex Watney, Combe Reid's) now operated by the current owner InBev has proposed to close it in 2010 with 182 jobs at risk under restructuring plans. A brewery has existed on this site since the 15th century.
